RFN Announced as Naming Rights Partner of SX85 Futures
The Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship presented by Monster Energy has announced RFN as the new Naming Rights Partner of the RFN SX85 Futures category, marking another major milestone for Australian Supercross and the progression of electric motorcycle competition.
The partnership will see the category officially known as the RFN SX85 Futures, with RFN joining AUSX for three major events in 2026 — the AUSX Open at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong, followed by AUSX Supercross rounds in Perth and Newcastle.
Importantly, the partnership goes well beyond branding.
RFN electric motorcycles will line up and race in the RFN SX85 Futures category alongside traditional combustion-powered 85cc motorcycles, putting electric technology into direct competition on the Supercross track.
The move follows Motorcycling Australia permitting approved electric motorcycles to compete in Australian Supercross competition.
Approved electric machines can compete within the appropriate existing competition class, subject to Motorcycling Australia eligibility, technical regulations and inspection requirements.
For AUSX, the RFN partnership represents another important step in embracing emerging motorcycle technology while continuing to develop the next generation of Australian Supercross racers.
Mick Sinclair, Head of Partnerships & Motorsport at AUSX Events, said the partnership was an exciting development for both AUSX and the sport.
“Having RFN take Naming Rights of SX85 Futures while also putting their electric motorcycles on the start gate is another landmark moment for Australian Supercross,” Sinclair said.
“This isn’t about creating a separate electric category. Electric and combustion motorcycles will race together in the appropriate class, and we’re excited to provide the platform for that competition to happen.”
The SX85 Futures category is an important component of the AUSX development pathway, providing emerging riders with the opportunity to compete on the same Supercross tracks and at the same events as Australia’s leading professional riders and international stars.
“SX85 Futures is about developing the next generation of Supercross, so there’s a great alignment with what RFN is bringing to the sport,” Sinclair added.
“We want AUSX to be a championship that embraces innovation while protecting great racing. Ultimately, once the bikes are approved and the gate drops, it comes down to the riders and the racing.”
John Bettini, General Manager of RFN Australia, said the partnership was an opportunity for RFN to demonstrate its technology where it matters most — in competition.
“RFN is incredibly excited to partner with AUSX and put our name behind the SX85 Futures,” Bettini said.
“We believe the best way to prove electric motorcycle technology is on the racetrack. Having our bikes line up alongside combustion 85s gives us the opportunity to demonstrate their performance in genuine Supercross competition.”
Bettini said supporting the Futures category also aligned strongly with RFN’s focus on the next generation of riders.
“The young riders racing SX85 Futures are the future of the sport, and electric motorcycles will be an important part of that future,” Bettini said.
“To support these riders while showcasing what our technology can do is a perfect fit for RFN. We can’t wait to see the bikes behind the gate in Geelong.”
RFN Australia’s 2026 Warrior range includes the Warrior Pro SX-E15, developed to compete in the 85cc class.
Under Motorcycling Australia regulations, all electric motorcycles competing in AUSX must be approved for the relevant class and discipline and meet applicable technical and safety requirements before being permitted to compete.
The RFN SX85 Futures will feature at three events during the 2026 AUSX season:
- AUSX Open – Geelong: GMHBA Stadium, November 7
- AUSX Supercross – Perth: HBF Park, November 14
- AUSX Supercross – Newcastle: McDonald Jones Stadium, November 28
The partnership further strengthens AUSX Supercross’s commitment to developing Australia’s next generation of racers while providing manufacturers with a genuine competition platform to showcase emerging motorcycle technology.
